Beebot

What is it?

A lovely little bee. It has 7 buttons on it’s back.

How does it work?

First of all, it’s charged with a cable(USB), so no batteries to change every x-month.

The beebot has 4 orange arrows: forward, left, right, back, it has a green GO button and 2 blue buttons to delete or pause.

You set out a goal for the beebot. For example: he needs to say hi to your doll.

The kids think what should the robot do? Drive straight ahead. They press straight ahead an GO.
The beebot moves 15cm (5,9 inches). It didn’t make it to the doll. You take it back and ask again. Now the kids say: it has to move several times. They press the straight button several times and press GO. Now he does what they want.

Next step: make a turn.
Than you can use it on a transparent sheet where you can place all kinds of stuff underneath.
Ask the kids: how much is 2+4? The beebot has to move to the number 6.
Or use letters and ask to spell there name, …

What do we think?

I realy like the beebot J

Age?

What does the box say? 4-12y
I used it in a primary school, with kids the age of 4. They al liked it very much. There are a loth of teachers already using the beebot.

BUT, last I saw them use the beebot in school for kids ages 11-12y. I think it’s cool to use them as an introduction, but they should stay in the range of 4-8y.
